Day One     Kathgodam – Deora

You will be met by your private Shakti guide at the Kathgodam Station/Pantanagar airport and driven for about 3 hours to the Almora region where the village walks begin.

Setting off from the road head on the Kasar Devi Ridge (1862m/6108ft), where a grand sweep of the Great Himalayan Range is visible, you will begin by walking down through the pretty village which is scenically positioned on a ridge. Continue to walk through terraced fields where you take a break for a drink.

After walking on through a lovely forest, you will arrive a spot where you will be served a delicious picnic lunch. A wonderful place to take in the sheer beauty and fresh mountain air!

After lunch, you will walk down through a valley where you will visit a temple complex. This lovely little temple dates back to the 10th century and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Continue walking through the fields and gently climb uphill to the village of Deora.

Day Two     Deora - Jwalabanj

This morning visit the village school and meet with the ever smiling and excited children there.

Today’s walk takes you through pine forests and a descent into the Shivalaya valley as the forest peters out. A gentle stream runs down one side of the valley where one can often see children playing while the parents work in the fields. Further ahead is a natural rock pool where we will stop for a while to enjoy a drink and to dip our feet. As you walk on you will come across a water powered flour mill, which is very interesting to watch.

You will have the option of driving in the waiting car or walking to your lunch spot. After lunch, the walk to Jwalbanj Village is uphill through enchanting rhododendron forests and views.

Day Three     Jwalabanj - Kana

A short drive early this morning will bring you to a point from where you can watch a most picturesque and unforgettable sunrise. Today we will serve you breakfast outdoors to complete the experience.

Return to the house to freshen up and relax. Afterwards,head to the next village house, walking through an ancient oak forest. A downhill walk through green terraced fields brings you to the Jageshwar Temple Complex built in the 8th century, which is very interesting to explore. Some distance ahead we have arranged lunch for at a lovely spot by a stream. This is a wonderful place to simply relax. Another hour further you will reach the village house.

The rest of the afternoon is for you to enjoy as you desire- you may like to simply sit outside and read a book or just admire the scenery.

For those who wish to walk more, there is a beautiful three hour walk from the house through rhododendron, pine and oak forests.

Day Four     Kana - Delhi

Enjoy a morning at leisure or go for a walk in the area with your guide before walking to the road head, around twenty minutes away. You will then be driven back to Kasar Devi for a late lunch after which you will be transferred to the railway station stopping en route to visit the Panchachuli Women’s Weaving Co-operation. If you are taking a flight you will need to drive to the airport after breakfast.
