Nestled amidst the majestic Himalayas, Nimoo (3190m/10463ft) captivates with its panoramic vistas, enveloped by verdant fields and flourishing orchards of apricot, apple, and walnut. Upon arrival, indulge in much-needed rest to facilitate your acclimatisation process. Take the day to unwind and immerse yourself in the serene ambiance of your accommodation, ensuring a rejuvenating start to your adventure.

DAY 02

NIMOO

After breakfast, embark on a leisurely walk through the village of Nimoo with your guide, offering a fascinating insight into rural Ladakhi life. Return to the village house for a delightful lunch. In the afternoon, unwind at the village house or take a visit to the historic Basgo Fort. Perched at 3295m (10808ft), Basgo is home to three ‘Future Buddha’ monasteries, completed in the 16th century and notable for their unique blend of Islamic architecture. In the evening, you have the opportunity to partake in a cooking lesson with your Shakti private chef, adding a culinary delight to your cultural adventure.

DAY 03

NIMOO

After a leisurely breakfast, drive up the Zanskar canyon to the village of Chilling (3236m/10614ft), about an hour from Nimoo. Chilling is a historic settlement renowned for its skilled metal smiths, who have supplied copper, bronze, tin, silver, and iron work to Leh for centuries. Witness the local artisans at work before embarking on a two-hour rafting adventure back to Nimoo, where a picnic lunch awaits you on the shores.
After lunch, unwind at the village house or, if you’re feeling energetic, take an afternoon hike with your guide. In the evening, relax under the stars before enjoying dinner in the charming Ladakhi kitchen.

DAY 04

NIMOO – STOK

This morning, visit the charming Phyang Monastery, a 45-minute drive away. Enjoy a hike around the picturesque surroundings, culminating in a picnic lunch with the monastery as your backdrop. Afterwards, you will be driven for 1.5 hours to your next village house in Stok. The glorious village of Stok (3650m/11972ft) lies at the foot of Stok Kangri, which, at 6120m (20,073ft), is one of Ladakh's most beautiful mountains. Later today, you may take a walk or cycle around the royal village of Stok, exploring its rich heritage and scenic beauty.

DAY 05

STOK – MONCARMO

Embark on a 3-day trek, beginning with a hike towards your first campsite at Moncarmo. Follow a small river up a narrow valley for approximately two hours until you reach Changma, where you can rest at a tea house. Continue walking for another hour to reach Moncarmo (4250m/13,727ft), where you will set up camp for the night. Accommodation will be in dome tents, but Shakti’s high standard of food and service will more than compensate for the simplicity. Enjoy light and healthy snacks along the trek, with lunch and dinner served at the campsite, ensuring a comfortable and nourishing experience amidst the rugged beauty of the landscape.

DAY 06

MONCARMO – MATHO PHU

Begin your day by heading east from your campsite, crossing a glacial stream, and gently ascending uphill for about an hour and a half until you reach the Matho La (Matho Pass) at an altitude of 4900m (16,076ft). From there, descend for another hour and a half to reach the high-altitude pasture and summer settlement of Matho village, situated at 4400m (14,436ft), where you will set up camp for the second night. Throughout the trek, enjoy light and healthy snacks. Lunch and dinner will be served at the campsite, ensuring you stay nourished and energised for your journey.

DAY 07

MATHO PHU – SHANG PHU

Walk down the valley for about an hour, crossing a glacial stream along the way. Continue ascending the trail for another hour until you reach a small pass. Here, take a moment to place a prayer flag on the stone cairns before beginning your descent into the valley. Walk for another hour through a narrow valley to arrive at the high-altitude pastures of Shang village (4500m/14,764ft), where you will set up camp for the night. Enjoy light and healthy snacks during the trek, with lunch and dinner served at the campsite, ensuring you remain well-nourished and energised throughout your journey.

DAY 08

RIVER HOUSE

After breakfast, walk down for an hour to Shang village, where a Shakti car will be waiting for you. From there, proceed to Hemis Monastery, a 45-minute drive away. Explore the monastery and its museum with your guide, followed by a delightful picnic lunch. After lunch, you can take a short walk around the monastery grounds. Next, you will be driven for 45 minutes to The River House, located in the neighbouring village of Ranbirpur. This is Shakti’s first 4-bedroom house, situated by the banks of the Indus River. The house offers spectacular views of the Stok Kangri range and three monasteries: Stakna, Matho, and Thiksey.

DAY 09

RIVER HOUSE

For those willing to rise early, we recommend starting your day at around 5 am with a 30-minute drive to Thiksey Monastery to experience the serene early morning Buddhist prayers. Afterward, enjoy a picnic breakfast and explore the historic village of Shey. Return to your village house for lunch. Later in the day, if you’re feeling active, consider taking a walk to the intriguing Stakna Monastery, located across the river from The River House.

DAY 10
